In 2019, architect Sergio Baragaño launched a project aiming to combine technology and habitat into a “living-lab” hotel room, named Room2030, and designed by him based on his architectural proposal for the expansion of the Hotel Palacio Ferrera in Avilés. This project is the extension of “bhome”, the modular construction prototype developed in collaboration with ArcelorMittal R&D Asturias-based centres back in 2016.
At the end of 2019, the Room2030 Innovation Consortium is founded with the participation of a series of highly innovative & market-leading companies. Its goal was to bring the laboratory to life and to develop and demonstrate technologies for the purpose of generating The Room of the Future which, industrially manufactured, will be: smart, sustainable, flexible and healthy.
In 2020, Sergio Baragaño launched the start-up of the same name, ROOM2030 to Design, Manufacture and Commercialize solutions based on this prototype, adding the “soul” needed to generate healthy and sustainable habitats where technology is humanized.
In 2022, the following shareholder companies will join the founder: Ecus, Finsa and Normagrup
Sergio Baragaño and ArcelorMittal R&D, the Consortium integrates the following companies (in alphabetical order): Ecus, Finsa, Geopannel, Normagrup, Roca, Saint Gobain and Schneider.
In early 2020 the Consortium presented at the Niemeyer Art Center in Avilés the first pilot model of The Room of the Future, a living lab that integrates elements, systems, and innovations from all of them and in which, from that moment on, they would develop and test technologies either individually or jointly with the rest of the Consortium members.
The Living-Lob ROOM2030, in addition to being the laboratory where our concepts and technologies are tested individually or jointly with partners, is our first prototype and allows us to technically and commercially validate the housing solutions that we develop in the startup and that are based in it.
It has the configuration of a hotel Suite and its dimensions are 40 m2 divided into bedroom, bathroom, living room and porch.
Includes innovations from us and from all the Consortium partners:
→Smart, active and sustainable materials
→Health technologies
→Environmental and energy efficiency
→Internet of Things (IOT network)
→Modular construction and 3D solutions
